One of the main components of the mission of the Center for Austrian Studies is the commitment to reach out to students at all levels of education in the effort to bring an awareness of Austria and Central Europe to Americans. Through its web site the Center can bring awareness of Austria to a worldwide audience of young and old.
Austria, located in the heart of Europe, has a rich historical tradition. The K-12 section is developed with the intent of introducing readers to many aspects of Austria and the countries of its pre-World War I empire.
Since countless books have been written about the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the entries are summaries. We hope they whet the reader’s appetite to read further about the fascinating country that is Austria. Bibliographies are included to aid readers.
For comments or ideas of what you read here or would like to see information about, please contact Linda at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In this section you will also find announcements of the Professional Development Workshops directed to educators who want to learn more about the many facets of Austria and receive certification credits for participation.
For Minnesota teachers: If you would like a member of the Center to come to your classroom to talk about Austria, please contact the Center at the above e-mail address or call 612-624-9811.
Thank you for your interest in Austria – and enjoy your reading!
Remember, kangaroos are not indigenous to Austria!
